This off-hotel ranchon is the only one that is not on the beach. It’s located inside the Sitio La Guira which is a mini-village built in the style of an old coalminers’ settlement. Having a lunch at Ranchon Los Marquez would not only give you the opportunity to taste a delicious meal and a cocktail made with natural ingredient, but also the chance to discover the biodiversity of the region and take a journey into the past by learning more about the traditions and way of life of the early settlers inhabiting the region in the early 1900’s. Visit our Sitio La Guira page for more information about this unique “eco-historical” site. Note that the place is surrounded by a dense vegetation and mangroves, so we strongly suggest that you apply mosquito repellent to better enjoy your visit. Admission to the site is free, you can also go there only for a visit and a cold drink at their charming bar.
Sitio la Guira is an official stop of the Hop-on/hop-off bus service, we suggest though asking in advance the driver to drop you off at Sitio la Guira, otherwise he may not stop. You can also go by yourself if you rent a scooter or car, or hire a taxi. The site is at the end of a small cross road, about 700 meters from the main road connecting Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, they have a small parking. The entrance is very easy to spot from the main road, look for the giant guira fruit!
