Cueva del Jabali (Cave of the Wild Boar)
The Cueva de Jabali is a natural cave located in Cayo Coco, see map at the bottom of the page. It’s also known as the “Party Cave”, and it’s the most unique entertainment venue in Cayo Coco! The cave was converted into a Cabaret/Disco where you can enjoy an exciting evening with a live show, and hit the dance floor as the DJ spins Cuban and mainstream pop until the small hours.
A spiral staircase takes you into this natural cave filled with peculiar natural features, many stalactites, a massive porthole type roof, faux ancient drawings, and real bats (don’t worry they are harmless!). The cave is equipped with a bar, a stage, a dance floor, and a good sound and light system. The disco is open everyday except Sunday but it's liveliest when the tour operators organize the $25 USD all-inclusive nights that include transportation, see the Cave Party excursion page for more info.
Here are a few tips to better enjoy an evening at the Cueva Del Jabali:
- Were comfortable shoes and dress lightly, the cave gets hot and humid as the night progresses.
- The venue is not wheelchair accessible
- Even if you booked the organized Cave Party tour with open-bar, don't forget about tipping.
- Watch your head when dancing, in some areas the ceiling is quite low.
- You can leave when you like, buses rotate throughout the evening.
The cave can also be visited during the day, you’ll have to rent a car or scooter or hire a taxi. But, as far as we know, it seems that sometimes there’s no one there and the entrance is locked. You can ask the guys working at the nearby Ranchon Playa Prohibida (aka Lenny’s lobster shack) if they know when the person working at the cave is coming back. During the day it’s a fun family excursion in order to see the nice rock formations and the bats flying and hanging from the ceiling.

How to get there
If you booked the "Cave Party" excursion, then transportation by charter buses is included. If you want to go by yourself during the day, you must rent a scooter or a car, or hire a taxi; the Panoramic Bus doesn’t go there. You must first reach the Ranchon Playa Prohibida (better known as Lenny’s Lobster Shack) which is located on the Prohibida Beach about 2.2 km west of the Acuavida Spa Talaso. From there there’s a small road going south that will bring you to the Cueva del Jabali.
